Opportun Iti Es to Improve Hydrologic Data
نویسنده
چکیده
Hydrologic data collection over scales from centimemrs to continents, from minutes to years is difficult and expensive, so hydrologic models usually conceptualize processes based on simple, often homogeneous, views of nature. This forced oversimplification impedes cientific understanding and management of water resources. As the focus of hydrologic research shifts to larger regional and global scales, the collection, management, distribution, and analysis of data will improve so that models and data can each drive and direct the other. Better models illuminate the type and quantity of data needed to test hypotheses. Better data permit development and validation of more complete models and new hypotheses. Coordinated hydrologic experiments (such as the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment) and remote sensing of hydrologic parameters examine hydrologic variables at these larger scales, and isotope geochemistry, paleohydrology, and biological methods allow analysis and retrieval of new kinds of information. Improvements in the management and accessibility of data will make them more easily available to hydrologic scientists.

Background: Sharing of health data should improve patient safety and improve health services efficiency. These data can also be used for research. The shared data are usually “coded” using a coding system classification or nomenclature. However, “coding” is not a neutral action and is part of the complex social interaction between doctor and patient To derive meaning from data it is essential t...

The lack of hydrological data for urbanizing watersheds in developing countries is one of the challenges facing decision making. Msimbazi River is located in the city center of Dar es Salaam and is highly influenced by human activities; this includes dense populations that are characterized by informal settlements. The catchment is currently undergoing flooding, which triggers a dilemma in its ...
متن کاملImproved extraction of hydrologic information from geophysical data through coupled hydrogeophysical inversion
[1] There is increasing interest in the use of multiple measurement types, including indirect (geophysical) methods, to constrain hydrologic interpretations. To date, most examples integrating geophysical measurements in hydrology have followed a three‐step, uncoupled inverse approach. This approach begins with independent geophysical inversion to infer the spatial and/or temporal distribution ...

Background and Aims: Diferences whithin shape and size of hand wrenches in diferent systems could affect the torque applied. Therefore, evaluation of wrenches has been emphasized. The aim of the present study was to compare the torque values of the long and short torque wrenches in different implant systems including ITI, Implantium and Nobel Biocare. Materials and Methods: In this experimenta...

The ability to discover and integrate data from multiple sources, projects, and research efforts is critical as scientists continue to investigate complex hydrologic processes at expanding spatial and temporal scales. Until recently, syntactic and semantic heterogeneity in data from different sources made data discovery and integration difficult. The Consortium of Universities for the Advanceme...
